Autumn
Black is a virtual assistant to established and aspiring business owners,
corporations, non-profit organizations and entrepreneurs in the fields of media,
fashion, entertainment, & technology through creative consulting, public
relations campaigns, event planning, strategic marketing, project management,
fundraising and motivational speaking.
Prior to her current practice, Ms. Black
supported the world’s leading media company, Time Warner, as external relations
coordinator. She was dually responsible for building strategic relationships
with community leaders, public officials, politicos, entertainers, non-profit
organizations as well as internal constituents. She also acted as interim
assistant brand manager for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics and was contracted by the
Integrated Communications department of Matrix, a division of L’Oreal.
After joining the Corporate Community
Relations team in December 2002, Ms. Black helped to manage a multi-million
dollar contributions budget and assisted in the planning and execution of
strategic philanthropic initiatives. Her coordination with department staff and
knack for connecting people with resources resulted in the successful
administration of Time Warner’s signature programs including Passport to
Culture, Broadway Under the Stars, the American Black Film Festival and the
Apollo Theater Foundation capital campaign.
Ms. Black has managed Time Warner's
sponsorship for numerous organizations including the YMCA, Women in Need, Inc.,
The National Association for Research on Women, Latino Commission on AIDS, New
York Women's Foundation, The Girl Scouts, Sean P. Diddy Combs', Diddy
Runs the City, NAACP, Jamaica Business Resource Center, Rush Philanthropic Arts
Foundation and the Essence Awards. Culminating her stint at Time Warner was the
whirlwind experience of becoming a semi-finalist for season two of Donald
Trump’s “The Apprentice”.
Prior to joining Time Warner, Ms. Black had
over 5 years of experience in media and public relations. After attending
Stanford University on domestic exchange, she worked for Sony Music
Entertainment where her persuasive writing ability earned her the responsibility
of facilitating relationships between artists and journalists for 550, Work
Group, Columbia and Epic Records talent. In 2001, while attending graduate
school, Ms. Black joined MTV's Emmy award winning public affairs department to
participate in the design and implementation of MTV's Choose or Lose Campaign --
Fight For Your Rights: Take a Stand Against Discrimination. In 2002, she
transferred her experience to EMI Music Publishing where she analyzed demo
submissions and created song pitch packages for Ricky Martin, Celine Dion and
the Backstreet Boys.
Expressly concerned with the voice of youth
in America, Ms. Black has been a mentor for children throughout her career as a
volunteer with the Harris Homes First Grade Initiative, Time Warner's Time to
Read and President Clinton's America Reads program.
In her spare time Mrs. Black enjoys reading,
writing, theater, and acrylic painting. Her work has been featured at the Cape
Cod Museum of Fine Art and the McVicar Health Services Building in Atlanta,
Georgia. A graduate of New York University with a Masters of Arts in Music
Entertainment Professions and of Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree
in psychology, Ms. Black is a California native and currently resides in New
York City.
